A Mother's Journey

“I am the mother of eight and half year old twins with diagnosis of Autism and Cerebral Palsy. Both children have received occupational and speech services in school for the last six years. My son has had great difficulty with fine motor function, specifically writing. He has made little or no progress with school occupational therapy services. His difficulty writing was labeled as “behavior”.
My twins started at Jackson Jade six months ago for occupational and speech therapy. The entire staff was extremely knowledgeable and supportive during the initial few weeks when my daughter displayed extreme aggressive and non-compliant behaviors. The therapist and director developed a behavior plan to deal with the behaviors and within a few weeks my daughter was happily racing to sessions.
In just a few short weeks working with my kids my son’s teacher and behavioral specialist told me that my son had made remarkable improvement in his handwriting and articulation. They had no prior knowledge of my son’s private speech and occupational therapy at Jackson Jade. Both were searching for the reason behind the dramatic improvements in my son’s writing and behavior.
